Arqadia offer over 2000 different mouldings in a variety of styles and finishes and the most comprehensive range of stunning frames, mountboards, glass and accessories in the market. Their existing website was no longer fot for purpose. In terms of design and technology time has not been kind to it. A fully functioning e-commerce platform with high levels of usability was required in order for the business to maximise its online presence.
Given the breadth and depth of the Arqadia offer it was vital to think like the likely visitor to the site. It was crucial to nderstand their needs and build the user experience around that. From there an information architecture that avoided getting too deep and an interface that provided easy navigation allowing the user to find what they are looking for without fuss.
Wireframes played a big part in scrutinising the customer journey and streamlining the process. Once happy with the wireframes, the skin could be developed. Given that product is king and usability is critical to this type of site the look and feel is paired back yet still elegant.
